Another Sleepless Night

Last night we watched the Arte channel in French and ate takeout pizzas. Elena kept pace with me for wine. She wanted to drink so as to try to sleep better. And it worked--for a while. We went to bed at about 11.

First a sidebar about the location of the bed. Yesterday, we moved the mattress. There are 2 rooms upstairs. The one with the stairs to downstairs has 2 small windows and is cooler because it has a real roof. The other room is probably a terrace converted into a room. It seems to have a wooden roof with something to protect the interior--but no tiles or shingles. So it gets hot. And the room gets hot. The bed was in the hot room, so we moved it to the cooler room.

We managed to sleep well until 1am-ish. Then I heard a mosquito and the neighborhood dogs started their barking competition to see who can bark the longest. I tried to hunt the mosquito but it hid too well. There were also the neighbors knocking on their doors again and a large number of neighbors coming home at the wee hours of the morning. The racket went on until about 3 or 4am. We slept fairly well until 8am. I slept throught he muezzin, so I guess I'm making progress.
