Last Morning In Paris

We woke up and finished up our packing, then headed out to see the Sacred Heart (Sacre Coeur) church. We wandered through Montmartre. As we were walking through it, Elena realized that when she took me to Montparnasse, she was looking for for Montmartre. It was pretty cool but very crowded. Then we made it to the bottom of the hill on which the Sacred Heart was atop. What crowds! All snapping pictures at all angles. We walked up and up and up. OK, it's not the Grouse Grind, but I was just starting to breathe harder when we finally crested. We entered and looked around a bit. Too many people--many taking pictures despite the signage saying not to. There was a map on a plaque showing where some bombs dropped by the Germans fell and giving the credit for the lack of deaths on that particular bombing run to divine intervention. I'll never understand why in a world where people die brutal horrible deaths, divine intervention is credited to events that are lucky.

After that, we went out and back down the hill. We walked by all the sex shops in the Pigalle. Then we went back to our place to get ready to leave Paris.
