Still In Bamako

The rain came and went and I'm still at the Hôtel Yamey in Bamako. I got addicted to reading about the election. I'm a C-SPAN junkie without C-SPAN during the campaign. So I needed a nice full day of surfing and getting caught up in the election. I'm a bit relieved and cautiously optimistic. It looks like the Sarah Palin bounce might be over and she will be as bad for the McCain campaign as I originally thought. While she is energizing the base, she is scaring the swing voters (update: and even Ben Stein). Whew!

Tomorrow morning, it's off to Ségou. That'll put me there on Saturday. So I'll be in Mopti on Sunday. That means I'll probably make it to the Djenné Monday market. Then off to Timbuktu by Comanav ferry or possibly pinasse.
