Ramadan In Guinea

I woke up this morning and headed out early. I wanted to get to Le Damier early so I wouldn't be eating much during daylight. I got there and was the only one. I ordered the Petit Dejeuner Français (GF44000 or US$9). When I was near done--and after the sun was well up, a woman came in and ordered food. Hmm... Maybe she's not Muslim.

I went out into the street. There were bread vendors and all sorts of food vendors. Maybe people buy the stuff for later that night.

I walked down the Avenue de la Republique. People eating in Le Chelsea. People eating at Gondole. People eating at Cafe Follies. Women were cooking up donuts in the street.

I guess, Ramadan won't be so hard after all. If the Africans eat during daylight, I certainly won't starve myself to prevent causing jealousy. SO I'm a happy camper.
