Tickets To Rabat

We decided to leave the heat of the desert metropolis of Marrakech for the coastal capital of Rabat.  We'll go Tuesday.  We first went to the Supratours bus office but they don't go to Rabat.  So then we went to the CTM bus office but their times aren't convenient for us.  So finally we went to the train station.  240 dh later, we have 2 second class tickets for Rabat at 13:00 on Tuesday.  First class would have been about 100 dh more.  The ride is only about 4 hours, so we can manage second class.  We'll arrive a little after 5, so maybe we'll call our first choice hotels and try to reserve.

Actually today wasn't too hot at all.  In the morning, in fact, it was chilly and Elena and I both eventually got into our sleeping bag liners.  It felt sooooo nice to be chilly.  :-)  The morning was overcast, but eventually the sun burned its way through the clouds and the afternoon is shaping up to be not oppressive, but not comfortable.  There is a cool breeze occasionally coming into our window.  Whew!

On our trip, we stopped at the Solaris Cafe and had coffees.  Actually they look like they have really good dinner menu, but we're eating at home.  While there, I saw parked out front something horrible--a Hummer with Texas plates.  I hoped I'd never see one of those again.  It is shameful.  Speaking of shameful things Americans do, I was severely disappointed to learn that John McCain joked that the USA export cigarettes to Iran to kill them.  The current administration is anti-Islam enough.  When a candidate for president treats the lives of citizens of Islamic nations with that sort of mocking disrespect, it makes it harder to travel in the Islamic world.  It counters to some degree the nice Obama effect.

After it was over we came home for lunch and a nap.  Here is Elena snoozing away on top of her sac à viande.
