This is a blog about my travels in 2008. I plan to travel in France and throughout much of Africa. I'll keep everyone up to date on my plans here. I'm traveling part of the way with my trusty companion Elena. She sometimes sees things a little differently and you can get her perspective at http://elena-loveoutdoors.blogspot.com.

What About The Children?
There are lots of children in Essaouira. They all play together. The girls have a game where they take bits of elastic string and tie them into a loop about 8-10 feet in diameter. They hook one end on a wall and the other end gets wrapped around the legs of a girl forming a sort of triangle. Then the other girls jump around in and out--very similar to the way people do jump rope. They are also out in force at the beach where the boys play in the water--especially at high tide. They are, of course, kicking soccer balls around all the time. Soccer is big in Africa--where they mistakenly call it football.
